Finnmarkssykehuset reports 12 consecutive months of profit
Finnmarkssykehuset reported a positive financial result of 1.4 million kroner for July 2026, marking 12 consecutive months of surplus. The health enterprise's profit so far this year stands at 8.5 million kroner, representing a 50.9 million kroner improvement compared to the same period last year.
Despite the financial turnaround, the hospital is managing significant costs related to large-scale infrastructure investments totaling 5.1 billion kroner. Specifically, the new Hammerfest hospital incurs monthly interest and depreciation costs exceeding 10 million kroner.
CEO Ole Hope credited the results to the efforts of staff and management in improving resource utilization, reducing the use of external personnel, and shortening patient waiting times. The hospital is currently operating within its allocated financial frameworks following several years of negative results.
