Global fintech developments: Tether audit, Philippine payment expansions, and Aisot funding

Several significant developments are occurring across the global fintech and cryptocurrency sectors. KPMG has issued an unqualified audit opinion on Tether’s 2025 financial statements, verifying its reserves, including a physical inspection of over 146 metric tons of gold.

In the Philippines, Coins.ph has partnered with Skyro to expand digital payment and disbursement infrastructure using the QR Ph standard. Additionally, Coins.ph has integrated with Bayad to allow users to pay utility and government bills with real-time posting. Meanwhile, MariBank is conducting user research regarding potential crypto trading and stablecoin features.

In Switzerland, ETH Zurich spin-off Aisot Technologies raised CHF 2 million to expand its AI-driven investment analysis platform. In Malaysia, bolttech appointed Rohith Murthy as General Manager to lead its local operations and growth strategy.

Regarding security, a data breach at ShipMonk, a logistics partner for Trezor, has exposed the personal information of approximately 13,689 customers across several countries, though funds on the hardware wallets remain secure. Finally, the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry has issued new guidelines allowing government agencies to procure specialized technologies, such as blockchain, from international sources if they are unavailable locally.
