Fintech industry valuations led by crypto and corporate finance

The global private fintech landscape is currently dominated by companies in the cryptocurrency and corporate finance sectors. These verticals are highly valued due to large transaction volumes, high-value users, and the ability to capture higher customer lifetime values through services like SME lending and treasury management.

Stripe leads the top ten most valuable private fintech companies with a valuation of US$159 billion. Collectively, the top ten companies in this sector hold a valuation of US$540.65 billion. Other significant categories include digital banking, wealthtech, and lending.

Despite industry growth, gender disparity remains a significant issue in fintech. Women represent less than one-third of the global fintech workforce and hold a minimal share of leadership and founding roles. In 2024, startups with at least one female founder secured 20% of global deals, while all-female teams received only 2% of total capital. However, female founders are driving innovation in underserved areas such as agricultural finance, Sharia-compliant savings, and payment infrastructure for informal economies.
