Fintech valuations face pressure amid rising global deal activity
Global fintech deal activity is showing signs of renewed momentum heading into the fourth quarter of 2026, according to a report by D. A. Davidson. While mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and capital raising activity moderated during the summer months, interest from strategic buyers and financial sponsors in high-quality businesses is driving a recovery.
Despite this momentum, fintech valuations remain under pressure across several segments. Revenue multiples have declined in various sectors since September 2025 as investors reassess business models and prioritize profitability.
Buyers are increasingly shifting their focus from pure technology advantages to established customer relationships and distribution networks. The report notes that as software development cycles shorten, technological differentiators become easier to replicate. Consequently, companies with strong customer access and central roles in user workflows are attracting more strategic interest.
