AS Roma and Atalanta prepare for Serie A test of strength

Ahead of their Serie A matchup at the Stadio Olimpico, AS Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini and Atalanta manager Maurizio Sarri have addressed the upcoming clash. Gasperini described the match as a ‘test of strength’ against a high-quality opponent and noted Roma’s early season momentum. He also touched upon the club’s financial constraints during the summer transfer window, which prevented the signing of players like Mason Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville.

Maurizio Sarri highlighted the physical challenges facing Atalanta, noting they are the only team in Italy playing their fifth match in sixteen days. Sarri praised Gasperini’s coaching and identified Roma striker Donyell Malen as a primary threat, stating that Malen is ‘in a state of grace’. Sarri also expressed confidence that Roma is a strong side capable of competing for the Scudetto.

Regarding player availability, Gasperini mentioned that Paulo Dybala is attempting to train following medical exams that showed no major issues, though his participation remains uncertain. Roma is also monitoring free agents such as Wilfried Zaha and Raphael Guerreiro to bolster their squad options.
