Fiorentina protests Serie A refereeing and VAR technology

Fiorentina has formally expressed dissatisfaction with refereeing management and VAR technology following controversial incidents during their match against Como. The club submitted an official note to the Lega Serie A, seeking clarity on two specific moments that heavily influenced the game's outcome.

The first incident involves the validation of a Como goal, where the club questioned why referee Di Bello was not called to the monitor for an on-field review. The second dispute concerns an annulled goal by Pongracic due to offside; Fiorentina argued that static images provided by VAR were insufficient evidence compared to dynamic video.

In response, Lega Serie A President Ezio Simonelli stated that access to VAR audio recordings must be requested through the Federal Prosecutor, as these dialogues are the intellectual property of the FIGC. Regarding the offside decision, the League provided screenshots explaining that technical issues prevented the full use of the Advanced Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT). Specifically, four of the twelve cameras failed to correctly identify player silhouettes, and a camera near the penalty area was affected by nearby construction, forcing officials to rely on manual protocols.
