Fiorentina legend Antognoni and President Commisso begin reconciliation

Giancarlo Antognoni, the historic captain of Fiorentina, and club president Rocco Commisso appear to be reconciling after a five-year rift. The tension began when the club moved Antognoni from a first-team role to a youth sector position, a decision the former player viewed as a demotion, leading to his resignation and years of silence.

A recent public meeting and an embrace between Commisso and Antognoni at the Nereo Rocco awards ceremony mark a significant turning point in their relationship. Despite the previous distance, which was evident during the club's centenary celebrations, Commisso has reaffirmed his respect for the former player by announcing the retirement of Antognoni's number 10 jersey for the 2026-2027 season.
