Alex Jimenez joins Fiorentina on loan
Spanish right‑back Alex Jimenez, 21, completed a move to Serie A club Fiorentina from English side Bournemouth. The deal is a season‑long loan with an option to buy valued at €30 million, including a 10 % sell‑on clause. Bournemouth will retain 30 % of any future transfer fee.
The transfer proceeds despite an ongoing investigation at Bournemouth into alleged messages Jimenez exchanged with a 15‑year‑old girl. The club suspended the player and barred him from the final Premier League matches. Fiorentina’s sporting director Fabio Paratici, who has been active in the market, confirmed the agreement and said Jimenez passed his medical examinations. The move adds to Fiorentina’s recent activity, which also includes signings of Viery, Dragusin, Atta and ongoing targeting of other players.
Jimenez, a product of Real Madrid’s academy who previously played for Milan on loan, will join Fiorentina with the option to become permanent at the end of the season.
