Fiorentina set to appoint Fabio Grosso as new head coach

Fiorentina have formally approached former defender Fabio Grosso, who is currently in charge of Sassuolo, as their preferred candidate to replace the outgoing manager. Club officials say negotiations are under way and Grosso is being praised by Fiorentina director Fabio Paratici for his modern, offensive‑ minded approach that helped Sassuolo finish strongly in Serie A.

Grosso, 44, has spoken about his tactical philosophy – a flexible 4‑3‑3 or 4‑2‑3‑1 system that emphasizes vertical play, creativity and player autonomy – and cites Pep Guardiola as a key influence. He is described as hardworking, humble and methodical, with a reputation for clear communication with his squad. The potential move would see him take over a club looking to rebuild after a narrowly‑avoided relegation last season.
