Fiorentina signs Spanish defender Alex Jimenez on loan

Alex Jimenez, a 20‑year‑old Spanish defender, has joined Serie A club Fiorentina on a season‑long loan with a purchase option reportedly set at €20 million. After a year in the English Premier League with Bournemouth, the player returned to Italy following previous spells in Real Madrid's youth system, Milan's Primavera, and Milan's senior squad.

Jimenez said the transfer was completed quickly, adding that he was attracted by Fiorentina’s prospects. He also praised Spain’s recent World Cup win, describing it as an “incredible” achievement. Fiorentina’s sporting director Fabio Paratici emphasized that the focus will now be on his integration into the squad.

The move strengthens Fiorentina’s defensive options, giving the club a versatile right‑back who can also operate as a wing‑back or midfield wide player.
