Fiorenza Marchegiani, acclaimed Italian actress, dies at 73
Italian actress Fiorenza Marchegiani has died at the age of 73 in Albano Laziale. Born in Osimo in 1953, she had a versatile career spanning theater, cinema, and television.
She gained widespread recognition for her role as Marta in the 1981 film ‘Ricomincio da tre’, which marked the directorial debut of Massimo Troisi. In the film, her character was noted for being an independent and modern woman, breaking away from the era's typical female stereotypes.
Marchegiani was also a prominent figure in Italian television, most notably playing Letizia Visconti in the long-running soap opera ‘Vivere’ alongside Fabio Mazzari. Her television credits also include ‘Incantesimo’, ‘Elisa di Rivombrosa’, ‘Distretto di Polizia’, and ‘Le tre rose di Eva’.
Her professional roots were in theater, having trained at the Accademia d’Arte Drammatica in Rome and performed with the Teatro Stabile di Genova. Following her passing, colleagues and local officials, including the Mayor of Osimo, Michela Glorio, have paid tribute to her talent and professionalism.
