Fiorenzo Serra photography exhibition to open in Sassari

A photography exhibition titled ‘Fiorenzo Serra. Lo sguardo prima del cinema’ is scheduled to open on Tuesday, October 13, at 5:30 PM in Sassari. Held at the Fondazione di Sardegna, the exhibition focuses on a lesser-known aspect of the work of the prominent Sardinian documentarian.

The showcase presents a wide selection of Serra’s photographs, which blend documentary rigor with poetic sensitivity to capture the transformation of Sardinia during the post-war period. The exhibition is organized into five sections: Faces, Towns and Landscapes, Daily Life, Ritual and Celebration, and Work and Traditional Economy.

Accompanying the exhibition is a volume published by Squilibri, featuring contributions from Uliano Lucas, Felice Tiragallo, and Elisa Medde. Curated by Antonello Zanda, the publication offers a critical re-reading of Serra’s work within the context of Italian documentary photography and visual anthropology.
