Fiorenzuola d’Arda school gym reopens following 2025 fire

The gym at the Istituto Mattei in Fiorenzuola d’Arda has officially reopened for school and sporting activities following restoration work. The project, managed by the Province of Piacenza, follows a significant fire that occurred on July 31, 2025.

Local officials, including the President of the Province, Monica Patelli, the school director, Rita Montesissa, and the Mayor of Fiorenzuola d’Arda, Romeo Gandolfi, conducted an inspection to mark the reopening. Currently, the ground floor is accessible, including the entrance, playing field, changing rooms, storage areas, and the infirmary.

While the most intensive phase of the emergency response is complete, some finishing work remains. Upcoming tasks include completing the upper floor, installing a canopy, repositioning photovoltaic panels, and clearing construction materials and equipment from the site.
