Fiorini Pesaro Rugby promoted to Serie A1 as Unione Rugby Firenze appoints new coaches

The Italian Rugby Federation has officially placed Fiorini Pesaro Rugby in the national Serie A1 for the 2026‑2027 season, expanding the top tier to a single 12‑team group after several clubs withdrew. President Simone Mattioli welcomed the promotion, noting the club’s recent high‑level performances and preparing for the increased organisational and financial demands.

Meanwhile, Unione Rugby Firenze has confirmed its senior team coaching lineup for the 2026‑2027 Serie A campaign. Head coach Samuele De Simone will continue in his role, joined by former Under‑18 coach Alessio Mattoccia, with technical director Paolo Grassi overseeing the project. The club aims to strengthen the pathway from its youth academy to senior rugby and improve on the previous season’s results.
