Fire and explosion incidents result in injuries in Argentina and Chile

Two separate incidents involving fire and explosions have resulted in injuries in Argentina and Chile.

In Concordia, Argentina, a fire destroyed a wooden house and damaged a neighboring structure near Doctor Florenza and Intendente Larroca streets. An 18-year-old was hospitalized at the Hospital Delicia Concepción Masvernat following the blaze. Emergency response included the Entre Ríos Police Firefighters and local volunteer firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In La Calera, Chile, a 14-year-old boy is in critical condition at the Hospital Gustavo Fricke after a motorcycle engine exploded while he was attempting repairs. The teenager suffered severe burns to more than 90% of his body. A 49-year-old relative also sustained minor burns to his face and arm. The Public Ministry and Carabineros are investigating the circumstances of the explosion.
