Rancho da Pamonha do Marçal fire sparked by illegal fireworks in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia

On the afternoon of Sunday, 27 February, fireworks used during a gender‑revelation party ignited a blaze at the Rancho da Pamonha do Marçal, a tourist chalet on the BA‑263 highway near the Serra do Marçal in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. The fire began around 17:30, despite warning signs prohibiting fireworks on the premises.

No injuries were reported. Staff and visitors attempted to contain the flames with about 20 extinguishers and hoses, but professional intervention was required. The Corpo de Bombeiros arrived and fully extinguished the fire roughly an hour later. The blaze damaged vegetation, the artesian‑well water‑distribution network, and part of the rancho’s electrical system, while the owner’s residence was also threatened. The rancho’s management is now assessing the losses and said it will take appropriate measures.
