Fire breaks out in filter system of metal‑working plant in Krefeld, Germany
On Saturday 6 June 2026, a fire ignited in the filter installation of a metal‑working plant in the Bruchfeld industrial area of Krefeld, North Rhine‑Westphalia. The blaze is believed to have started when deposits in the ventilation pipes caught fire. Approximately 45 fire‑fighters from two professional stations and the volunteer fire‑brigade Gellep‑Stratum responded. No injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control quickly, though extensive post‑fire work was required. The damaged sections of the filter system were later dismantled, and precautionary air‑quality measurements were carried out around the site. The incident caused significant smoke on approach routes but posed no danger to the public, according to the incident commander.
