Fire breaks out in wooden two‑storey building in Istanbul's Fatih district

A fire erupted on the roof of a two‑storey wooden building in the Cibali neighbourhood of Fatih, Istanbul, while repair work was underway. According to witnesses, sparks from a welding machine ignited the wooden roof, causing the flames to spread rapidly. Residents evacuated the building on their own, and fire‑fighter, police and medical crews arrived after a call. The blaze was extinguished quickly and no injuries were reported, although the roof sustained damage.

The incident was captured on a resident’s phone, who expressed relief that the fire department arrived in time to prevent the entire building – and nearby wooden houses – from being engulfed.
