Fire controlled at As Pontes recycling plant

A fire broke out at a recycling plant silo located in the Os Airios Industrial Park in As Pontes de García Rodríguez, A Coruña. Emergency services reported that the fire, fueled primarily by waste, was contained and controlled by Wednesday afternoon, though extinguishing and cooling efforts continued.

During the operation, a firefighter from the Eume fire department required medical assistance from the 061 emergency service after suffering from dizziness.

The response involved multiple units, including firefighters from Eume and Vilalba, the GES team from Mugardos, Civil Protection volunteers, forest district personnel, and local municipal staff. Forest firefighters focused on a slope adjacent to the mountain to prevent the fire from spreading.
