Fire departments celebrate major anniversaries in Berlin and Wildflecken
Several fire departments are marking significant milestones. The Berlin Fire Department celebrated its 175th anniversary with a large vehicle parade on August 29, 2026. The procession, which began at the former Tegel Airport, featured approximately 80 historical and modern emergency vehicles, showcasing the technical evolution of fire and disaster protection. The route traveled through major landmarks including the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz.
In Wildflecken, the Bundeswehr Fire Department celebrated 75 years of service on August 13. The event highlighted the department's role in protecting a 7,250-hectare training area that includes shooting ranges and ammunition depots. A new fire station is currently under construction and is scheduled to be occupied in 2029.
Additionally, the Małopolskie Fire Museum in Poland is celebrating the 100th anniversary of a 1926 Mercedes-Benz LS 1. The vehicle, which has been part of the museum's collection since 1971, was restored by local firefighters in 1999 and remains fully operational.
