Fire departments host holiday programs for children
Fire departments in Neckarsulm, Germany, and Altmünster, Austria, recently hosted holiday programs designed to introduce children and adolescents to firefighting activities.
In Neckarsulm, participants engaged in a structured program consisting of nine stations. Activities included inspecting aerial ladder vehicles, learning about technical assistance equipment, and trying on personal protective clothing. The program also featured practical exercises such as using hand pumps for firefighting, team-building tasks, and vehicle maintenance demonstrations.
In Altmünster, 20 children and youths participated in an afternoon session. The program included hands-on experience with hydraulic rescue tools, using fire extinguishers on a training unit, and riding in a telescopic mast platform. The event concluded with a ride in a tank firefighting vehicle and an invitation for interested youths aged 8 to 15 to join the local fire brigade youth group.
