Toluca: Large fire destroys motorcycle shop and adjacent businesses
A major fire broke out on Monday night in the center of Toluca, Mexico, consuming a motorcycle shop named Neo Moto Bike. The blaze, located near the intersection of José María Morelos y Pavón and Ignacio López Rayón, also spread to an adjacent cleaning supply store.
Emergency response efforts involved the Toluca Fire Department along with support from neighboring municipalities, including Metepec, Xonacatlán, and San Mateo Atenco. Water tankers from the Toluca Water and Sanitation Organism and the State of Mexico Water Commission (CAEM) were deployed to assist in the firefighting operations. Authorities reported no injuries or fatalities resulting from the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit in the electrical network may have caused the fire, though official forensic reports are pending. On Wednesday, authorities reported that embers had reactivated, and Mayor Ricardo Moreno Bastida advised citizens to avoid the area due to high temperatures and safety concerns. The fire is estimated to affect a total of six commercial premises.
