Fire erupts in Italian apartment buildings, prompting emergency response

In Siracusa, a car ignited in the basement of a condominium on Largo 2 Giugno, generating thick black smoke that rose through the building and alarmed residents. The local fire brigade and police arrived, extinguished the flames and secured the area without evacuating the apartments. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze.

In Rome, a short circuit in an electrical panel within a garage on Via Tito Labieno near the Subaugusta metro station sparked a fire that threatened the historic Meo Pinelli restaurant. Firefighters, technical crews and police swiftly contained the flames, preventing further spread and ensuring public safety. The incident is also under investigation.

Both incidents caused no reported injuries and prompted rapid emergency responses by the Vigili del Fuoco and law‑enforcement units.
