Fire incidents in Agua Zarca lumberyard and Dolores Hidalgo landfill, Mexico

A small fire broke out in a lumberyard in the Agua Zarca neighborhood of La Zona de Tolerancia on Sunday afternoon. Municipal police and fire crews, led by Officer Carlos Robles, responded quickly, extinguishing the blaze that had ignited a pile of sawdust and wood waste. The incident was contained without major damage to nearby homes or workers.

In Dolores Hidalgo, a municipal landfill caught fire on Saturday night, burning for about seven hours before firefighters extinguished it near 2 a.m. on Sunday. Mayor Adrián Hernández Alejandri said early investigations suggest the blaze was deliberately set, noting the lack of conditions for a spontaneous fire and the presence of two scavengers at the site. The fire caused limited environmental impact and was the latest in a series of landfill fires recorded in the town.

Both incidents prompted coordinated emergency responses and inspections to prevent re‑ignition, with authorities planning further investigations into the landfill blaze.
