Fire incidents in Carambeí and Campo Grande, Brazil, quickly contained

In the early hours of Friday, a fire ignited in recyclable material near a house in the AFCB neighbourhood of Carambeí. Community firefighters and civil defence units responded promptly after residents reported smoke, preventing the flames from reaching the dwelling. The blaze caused minor exterior damage but no injuries, and the homeowner received safety advice.

Later that day, a discarded cigarette butt sparked a fire in a second‑floor room of the Santa Casa hospital in Campo Grande. Hospital civil firefighters, maintenance staff and volunteer brigadiers extinguished the flames quickly. Patients were briefly moved to corridors due to smoke, but no one was hurt. The area was ventilated and cleaned, and normal operations resumed.
