Fire Island Pines beachfront home destroyed in massive blaze

A massive fire destroyed a beachfront home in the Fire Island Pines section of Long Island on Wednesday afternoon. The blaze reportedly erupted during a barbecue at the residence. While occupants were inside when the fire broke out, all were able to escape without injury.

Ten fire departments responded to the scene to battle the inferno and prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring properties in the densely packed coastal community. Officials reported that the fire was brought under control shortly before 5 p.m., though the property was determined to be a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
