Italy prison crisis: overcrowding reaches critical levels
Italy is facing a critical prison overcrowding crisis, particularly in the Abruzzo and Molise regions. In response to the impasse, CSM lay councilors Isabella Bertolini and Claudia Eccher have called for a formal meeting between the Ministry of Justice, the Guarantor for Detainees, and other relevant authorities to address the lack of space and the failure to implement effective alternative measures for those with short remaining sentences.
