Firebird opens massive AI data centre in Armenia

Firebird has officially opened a major artificial intelligence computing centre near Hrazdan, Armenia, which is described as the largest AI factory in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region. The facility is powered by NVIDIA architecture and Dell Technologies infrastructure, designed to support the training and operation of sophisticated AI models.

The first phase of the project involves an investment of approximately $500 million, featuring over 6,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and 18 megawatts of capacity. Firebird aims for a massive expansion by the end of 2027, targeting a capacity of 300 megawatts and the deployment of more than 70,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and next-generation Rubin GPUs, a scale that would rank it among Europe’s largest AI infrastructure platforms.

The inauguration was attended by high-level officials, including Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, NVIDIA leadership, and representatives from the United States and Kazakhstan. The project follows a memorandum of understanding on AI and technology cooperation signed between Armenia and the United States in August 2025. Perplexity has been named as one of the facility’s initial customers.
