Fireblocks denies reports of $2.5 billion Visa acquisition
Fireblocks has denied reports that it is in advanced negotiations to be acquired by Visa for approximately $2.5 billion. The denial follows an Axios report claiming the two companies were in late-stage discussions to expand Visa’s digital asset and stablecoin infrastructure.
Visa has declined to comment on the speculation. If the deal were to proceed at the reported valuation, it would represent a significant markdown from Fireblocks’ January 2022 valuation of $8 billion, established during its $550 million Series E funding round.
Fireblocks provides custody and wallet infrastructure for over 2,500 institutional clients and currently supports more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs used by Visa. The company has raised over $1 billion in total funding since its founding in 2018.
