Fireboy DML recounts family reaction to social media post

Nigerian singer Fireboy DML shared an anecdote regarding how a social media post caused distress within his family. While appearing in an Instagram Story holding a cigarette as part of a ‘showbiz moment’, the singer’s family reacted with concern in their family WhatsApp group.

Fireboy DML noted that his mother was particularly emotional and began crying after seeing the image. He explained that he had to reassure his relatives that the cigarette was intended for entertainment purposes rather than a sign of a new habit. However, the singer later admitted during an appearance on the Afrobeats Podcast that he did eventually smoke the cigarette.
