Firecrawl secures $75 million to advance AI agent web data tools

Firecrawl, a San Francisco-based startup specializing in web scraping tools for artificial intelligence agents, has secured $75 million in a Series B funding round. The investment was led by Smash Capital, with participation from Altos Ventures, Nexus Venture Partners, Y Combinator, Freestyle, and Offline Ventures.

The company aims to use the capital to hire talent, increase GPU procurement, and expand its product offerings. A primary focus is the launch of ‘Alexandria’, a new cloud service and platform designed to aggregate web data with curated third-party sets to create a global knowledge library for AI models and agents.

Firecrawl’s technology addresses technical hurdles in data retrieval, such as multi-phase page loading and content triggered by scrolling or clicking. By optimizing how agents interact with the web, the company claims to reduce token consumption for clients by up to 93% compared to traditional scraping methods that capture unnecessary HTML elements like scripts and ads.
