Firefighter and combat sports athlete Jakub Tymiński dies in Bydgoszcz
Jakub Tymiński, a 25-year-old firefighter from Bydgoszcz, has passed away following a long struggle for health. Tymiński served with the State Fire Service (JRG nr 4) and was an active member of the Volunteer Fire Service Bydgoszcz-Fordon.
The firefighter suffered severe brainstem injuries following a tragic accident in January. He spent several months in the hospital fighting for his life, during which time a public fundraiser collected over 113,000 PLN to support his intensive neurological treatment and rehabilitation. Despite medical efforts and the support of his community, he died on October 11.
Beyond his service as a rescuer, Tymiński was a highly accomplished combat sports athlete. He was a silver medalist at the K-1 Polish Championships, a member of the Polish national team, and a winner of the Polish Cup and the Junior World Cup.
