Firefighter eviction in Argentina and fatal residential fire in Costa Rica
In Argentina, the Volunteer Firefighters of Alto Comedero were evicted from their station on Marina Vilte Avenue in San Salvador de Jujuy. Demetria Llave, president of the institution, alleged the eviction was a unilateral decision by Milton Rueda, president of the Alto Comedero Neighborhood Center, stemming from personal conflicts. The firefighters reported nearly a year of harassment, including power cuts and locked gates, and chose to withdraw their rescue equipment to prevent further escalation.
In Costa Rica, a structural fire at the Bosques de Moravia residential complex in San Vicente de Moravia resulted in one death. The Costa Rican Fire Department reported that emergency teams had to rescue several people trapped on a balcony during the blaze. The cause of the fire and the identity of the deceased have not yet been confirmed, and authorities are continuing to manage the scene.
