Firefighter festivals in Germany attract families with live music
The volunteer fire department in Menden‑Bösperde hosted its annual fire brigade festival on the weekend of 1‑2 August. Saturday featured three live bands, including the six‑member group Partyinferno, while Sunday was dedicated to families with activities such as a children’s fire‑safety program, a jump‑castle, and performances by local dance groups. Deputy group leader Lukas Weber noted a record number of visitors compared with the previous year.
A similar event took place on 29 August in Sülbeck, where the fire brigade transformed its grounds into a family‑friendly venue. The day began with a flea market and a children’s play area, followed by live music from the Irish folk band Green Sheep and other local groups. Both festivals combined entertainment, community outreach, and showcases of fire‑service equipment.
These local celebrations aim to strengthen community ties and promote fire‑safety awareness while offering diverse musical and recreational programmes for residents of the surrounding regions.
