Firefighters and neighbors perform heroic rescues in Croatia and Serbia

A young firefighter from Omiš, Croatia, named Ivan, is currently fighting for his life after heroically facing a fire to protect others. Supporters have described his actions as a selfless act of bravery, noting that he went into the flames where others were fleeing.

In Serbia, neighbors in the village of Mađare near Prokuplje rescued a 76-year-old man from a fire that surrounded him near his home. Despite the village lacking water for a month, residents used shovels to create a path through the flames to reach the man, who was in a semi-conscious state. While the house was saved, two cars and an auxiliary building were destroyed before firefighters could contain the blaze.
