Firefighters battle major residential house fire in Unterhain

A major firefighting operation is underway in Unterhain, a district of Königsee in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district, following a fire in the attic of a residential building. Approximately 70 firefighters are currently engaged in the effort, which has been described as challenging due to the fire being located deep within the roof structure.

While Mayor Marco Waschkowski stated that no lives are currently in danger, some residents were examined by emergency services, and neighbors may be required to evacuate nearby houses as a precaution. Local authorities are working to stabilize the water supply using resources from local agriculture.

Police estimate the property damage at approximately 90,000 euros. Residents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke development. An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin once the blaze is fully extinguished.
