Firefighters battle two forest fires in Dalmatia, Croatia

On Thursday afternoon a large open‑space fire broke out near Široka, close to Primošten in the Dalmatian county of Šibenik‑Knin. The blaze consumed grass, low vegetation and a pine forest. Firefighting efforts involved 41 firefighters, 18 fire engines, two Canadair CL‑415 water bombers and an Air Tractor AT‑802, with no threat to nearby residents or houses reported.

Earlier, a lightning strike over Osejava near Makarska ignited a pine‑forest fire. Rapid response by local firefighters extinguished the flames quickly, preventing any spread and causing no damage to homes or other structures.
