Firefighters in FBiH demand improved pension conditions
Professional firefighters in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) have submitted an initiative with over 800 signatures to the acting director of the Federal Civil Protection Administration, Aldin Brašnić. The group is demanding amendments to the Law on Fire Protection and Firefighting to ensure more favorable pension calculations, seeking parity with the pension terms currently granted to police officers in the Federation.
The firefighters have requested that the Federal Civil Protection Administration initiate the parliamentary procedure for these legal amendments within 15 days. According to their estimates, implementing these changes would place a relatively small burden on the FBiH budget, totaling approximately 400,000 KM annually.
Aldin Brašnić expressed support for the initiative, stating that aligning their pension status is not a privilege but a recognition of the difficult and dangerous work they perform to protect citizens and property during natural disasters. The initiative has reportedly received preliminary support from the Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy and the Minister of Finance of FBiH.
