Firefighters rescue cats in Austria and Germany

In separate incidents in Austria and Germany, fire departments successfully rescued cats in distress.

In Feistritz im Rosental, Austria, firefighters used a boat to reach a cat stranded on a bridge pillar in the middle of the Drau river. The animal was unable to free itself, but was safely brought to the shore and placed under the temporary care of a neighbor.

In Pegnitz, Germany, a young black cat was discovered by a passerby trapped in a small animal leg-hold trap near Stemmenreuth. Firefighters were able to free the living animal. Local police are currently seeking information regarding the owner of the trap and the owner of the cat.
