Firefighters rescue owl in Mexico; US approves military execution

In Cananea, Sonora, firefighters rescued a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) in the El Dorado neighborhood. The bird, which was found with a wing injury, was taken by Officer Iván Molina to a veterinarian for assessment and subsequent release into its natural habitat.

Separately, in the United States, President Trump has approved the first execution by military firing squad since World War II. The execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, responsible for the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, is scheduled for December 3 and will be broadcast live. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated the decision for a public execution is intended to demonstrate that such acts carry grave consequences.
