Firefighting departments in Sanandaj and Qorveh report operational statistics

Firefighting and emergency services departments in the Kurdistan province of Iran have reported their operational statistics for recent periods.

In Sanandaj, the Fire Department head, Mortaza Karami, stated that the organization conducted 1,055 rescue and relief operations between September 2022 and September 2023. Karami highlighted the high-risk nature of fuel tanker incidents on the Sanandaj-Hamadan route and noted that efforts to protect natural areas like Abidar have been successful, reducing meadow fires from 38 cases last year to three this year. The department has also organized 85 new personnel.

In Qorveh, the Fire Department reported 731 operations during the first six months of the current year. These included 138 fire suppression efforts and 593 rescue and technical service missions. Officials noted that 26 citizens were rescued, while six fatalities occurred during these incidents. To improve response capabilities, the department added two 6-ton fire trucks and a heavy-duty electric winch to its fleet, while also working on new administrative and training facilities.
