Yacht fire and explosion at Sanremo’s Portosole

An explosion ignited a fire on a yacht docked at the Portosole marina in Sanremo, producing a dense column of black smoke visible for several kilometres. Emergency crews, including fire brigades and the local Coast Guard, responded promptly, extinguishing the flames and securing the surrounding vessels. No injuries were reported. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the blast and the subsequent fire, and to assess any environmental impact.

The incident prompted the temporary closure of nearby berths and the activation of safety protocols to prevent the fire from spreading to other yachts or port infrastructure.
