Fires in Argentina and Colombia spark community concern

Recent fire incidents in Argentina and Colombia have raised concerns regarding environmental safety and intentional arson.

In Argentina, a large fire broke out in a waste dump located between the 750 Viviendas and Villa del Carmen neighborhoods in the capital. Residents reported that the accumulation of trash and frequent waste burning have been ongoing issues for weeks, creating significant smoke and health risks for nearby families. Local citizens are demanding measures to prevent future waste accumulation and fires.

In Colombia, a forest fire occurred in the Media Luna district of Cucunubá during the night of September 23 and the early hours of September 24. Local residents claim the fire was intentionally set by outsiders and was ignited on three separate occasions. Community members worked alongside police and the mayor to control the flames before the Ubaté Fire Department arrived to finalize the containment efforts.
