Fires in Sokoto and Lagos destroy shops and goods

Multiple fire incidents in Nigeria have resulted in significant property damage and economic loss for local traders. In Sokoto, a fire broke out at the Sokoto Central Market on Sunday night, destroying several shops and causing widespread panic. The blaze, which occurred around 8:30 p.m., required intervention from emergency responders and local residents to prevent further spread.

In Lagos State, two separate fires occurred on Monday. The first incident took place at Adamo Bus Stop in Ikorodu, where a fire suspected to be caused by faulty electrical wiring spread from a hairdressing shop to three adjoining businesses. The second fire occurred in Surulere at Olatunde Onimole Street, gutting two shops specializing in furniture and provisions. While the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported no deaths or injuries in these incidents, the goods destroyed are valued at millions of naira.
