Fires reported in Rodez and Nice
Two separate fires were reported in France on September 3 and 5, 2026.
In Rodez, a fire broke out at the bistro Le Petit Barreau on Boulevard de la Laromiguière during service on the evening of September 3. The blaze originated in a deep fryer and spread through the hood vent to an outdoor structure containing refrigeration equipment. The fire caused smoke in a residential building and exposed the facade to flames. A 56-year-old individual was treated for smoke inhalation and evacuated to the Rodez hospital center. A neighboring bar was also evacuated as a precaution.
In Nice, a fire occurred on the evening of September 5 in a second-floor apartment of a residence hotel on Rue Masséna. Emergency services deployed 24 firefighters and six vehicles to combat the blaze, which caused smoke to spread through common areas. Authorities coordinated with Enedis, GRDF, and local police to manage energy networks and secure the site. No victims were reported in the Nice incident.
