Firewood prices rise as winter heating season begins

The winter firewood season has begun with prices rising compared to last year, leading to a decrease in sales. In Podgorica, beechwood is currently priced between 65 and 70 euros per meter, while oak is selling for 80 euros. Split firewood has seen a significant increase, now costing between 90 and 95 euros, up from 75 to 80 euros last year.

Vendors report that the wood originates from the areas of Veruša, Mateševo, Kolašin, Mojkovac, and Beran. They indicate that prices are not expected to change starting in September. Due to the rising costs of wood, some residents are opting to use electricity or air conditioning for heating this winter to avoid the expense of purchasing and storing firewood.
