Firozabad police suspend six officers after pregnant woman's death

Six police officers in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, have been suspended following the death of a 28-year-old pregnant woman, Anjali. The incident occurred in Labhaua village when a police team arrived to arrest her husband, Gaurav, in connection with a theft case.

According to family members, Sub-Inspector Dharmpal Singh allegedly kicked Anjali in the abdomen after she pleaded with the officers not to take her husband away. Following the encounter, Anjali was admitted to a hospital in Shikohabad, where she gave birth to a baby boy on Monday morning. Her condition deteriorated after the delivery, and she subsequently passed away at a private hospital in Firozabad.

The newborn boy remains in critical condition and has been transferred to a hospital in Agra for treatment. In response to the incident, villagers gathered at the local police station to protest the alleged actions of the officers.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ravi Shankar Prasad confirmed the immediate suspension of two sub-inspectors, Dharmpal Singh and Satyapal Singh, two head constables, Mohan Singh and Arvind Kumar, and two constables, Bhavtosh Kumar and Kuldeep Kumar, citing negligence.
