First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina commemorated

Commemorations were held in Vogošća to mark the 34th anniversary of the formation of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH). The event, organized by the ‘Zlatni ljiljani i Zlatna policijska značka’ Association, focused on the corps' role in defending Sarajevo and the state during the 1992–1995 war.

Established on September 1, 1992, the First Corps was one of six corps within the ARBiH. Its primary mission was the defense of Sarajevo, which faced a 1,425-day siege. The corps' area of responsibility held immense strategic and political importance as it encompassed the capital and the country's most vital state institutions.

At its peak in 1995, the corps grew to approximately 40,500 members. While the majority of its personnel were Bosniaks, the unit also included Serbs, Croats, and other ethnic groups. Key commanders included Mustafa Hajrulahović Talijan, Vahid Karavelić, and Nedžad Ajnadžić.
