The County Emergency Hospital of Miercurea‑Ciuc in Harghita County, Romania, performed its first robot‑assisted radical prostatectomies on 5 and 6 August. Two patients, aged 63 and 72, underwent the procedures without any complications using the Da Vinci four‑arm modular robotic system.

The surgeries were carried out by the urology team led by Dr. Albert Claudiu, head of the department, under the proctorage of Prof. Dr. Nicolae Crisan from Iuliu Hațieganu University in Cluj‑Napoca. Hospital manager Konrad Judit announced the operations at a press conference, noting that the Da Vinci system was acquired through a European project and follows a month‑long training programme that included simulator work and hands‑on experience in Cluj. The hospital had already performed robot‑assisted gynecological surgeries in July, marking a broader move toward robotic surgery in the region and aligning local care with Western European and U.S. standards.
