First Ladies engage in diplomatic activities during UN General Assembly

During the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, several high-profile diplomatic interactions occurred involving leaders from Ecuador, the United States, and the Dominican Republic.

Ecuadorian First Lady Lavinia Valbonesi shared a photograph on social media featuring President Daniel Noboa alongside U.S. President Donald Trump. While the image shows both leaders smiling and giving thumbs-up gestures, the official agenda for Noboa’s trip to the United States did not include a scheduled meeting with Trump. Noboa’s recent activities at the UN included a speech focused on international cooperation to combat transnational organized crime.

Separately, Dominican Republic First Lady Raquel Arbaje met with U.S. First Lady Melania Trump during a lunch in New York. The meeting was part of the ‘Fostering the Future Together’ coalition, which brought together various first ladies to discuss challenges and opportunities for youth, specifically regarding the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on younger generations.
